Coexistence Human And Wildlife Workshop - Master's Student:何詠晴 / Exchange Location: Japan
《Research Experience》
I was very happy to participate in this international workshop jointly organized by six schools in Japan and Taiwan, hosted by Hokkaido Sapporo Otani University.Last August, we hosted the 2023 ICID International Cross-Cultural Design Workshop, which was co-organized by six schools and named "Yunlin Biodiversity and Stroll". I acted as a facilitator and public relations officer, leading participants and assisting in the overall management. During the three-day workshop, I interacted with students from different schools in Japan and Taiwan, marking a beautiful end to the 2023 workshop. One year later, I was honored to participate in the "Coexistence of Humans and Wildlife" workshop held by Sapporo Otani University as a student participant.
As a graduate student, this workshop offered a valuable opportunity for learning and reflection. I was happy to participate with Japanese students, and despite facing challenges in communication, the design process, and cultural differences, we overcame these obstacles and successfully produced new designs.Through visits to the Hokkaido Museum, I gained a deeper understanding of the region’s biodiversity, particularly the brown bear habitat. The scientific data and visual displays not only enhanced my knowledge but also prompted us to think about how to better integrate ecological conservation with human development in future research. The field research at Asahiyama Memorial Park allowed us to experience the diversity of ecosystems, offering an important perspective on the balance between urbanization and nature conservation. Observing the natural landscapes and wildlife habitats helped us better understand the importance of habitat protection and the role humans play in this process.
