Curriculum Planning
Curriculum Planning
The Curriculum Committee is established to regularly review the content and scheduling of the courses. The curriculum includes diverse course contents to meet the needs of different students. In addition to planning courses in professional fields, scholars and designers from domestic and international institutions are regularly invited to give lectures and speeches, and intercollegiate elective course systems are also provided. To meet international teaching standards, English-language courses are offered each semester, increasing opportunities for language training of graduate students, to enhance their foreign language proficiency and achieve the goals of teaching and research in the design profession.
Master's Program: The minimum graduation credit requirement is 36 credits, including 16 required credits (including 6 credits for the master's thesis) and at least 20 elective credits, with details as follows:
-Required Courses: 10 required credits, including Graduate Seminar (I), (II), (III), (IV) with the total of 4 credits, and 6 credits for master's thesis.
-Elective Courses: At least 20 elective credits, with students required to take a minimum of 7 credits each semester during their first year. The maximum number of credits per semester is 18.
Elective courses are introduced as in the course flowchart. If students have research needs, with the consent of their advisor (or the department chair if the academic advisor has not been confirmed), they may take up to 2 courses (6 credits) from other departments, and these credits will be included in the calculation of graduation credits.
Ph.D. Program: The minimum graduation credit requirement is 32 credits, including 14 required credits (including 6 credits for Ph.D. thesis) and at least 18 elective credits (students need to choose at least 9 credits in a specific field) as follows:
-Required Courses: 14 required credits, including Graduate Seminar (I), (II), (III), (IV) with the total of 4 credits; Independent Study (I), (II), (III), (IV) totaling 4 credits, and 6 credits for the Ph.D. thesis.
-Elective Courses: In the first year, regular students must take at least 8 credits each semester, and part-time students must take at least 5 credits each semester (reexamination students who have been granted exemptions are not subject to this requirement).
The department offers at least 12 courses (36 credits) or more each semester for students to choose from. In addition, with the consent of their advisor, students can take courses from other colleges.
Regular students are not allowed to hold full-time jobs during the first two years of study, both inside and outside the campus, and their weekly on-campus presence should not be less than four days.
